Steven Arnold

Rachel hendron

Rachel Hendron is our lead teacher and principal. She has state secondary education qualifications and international experience (UK trained and global experience in UAE and Asia). Rachel is also an AMI Montessori guide for children 2.5 -12 years. Rachel has postgraduate training in Inclusive education (PgCert) and Education for Sustainability (MSc). She is a Registered Provisional Member with NZAC and works with adults as a Counsellor. She strives to engage in the world with Nonviolence, Holism, celebrating diversity and the opportunities provided when we work to uphold the Treaty of Waitangi.

Patricia Gammeter

Patricia Gammeter

Patricia is originally from Switzerland and Ireland, and has been a Kiwi for the last 25 years. She is one of our founding teachers, having finished her Masters of Teaching and Learning at the University of Waikato, along with a BA in English and French, and a Graduate Diploma in Linguistics. Her son is Montessori-educated (3-12) and she’s passionate about adolescent education. She recently completed her AMI Adolescence training.

Rebecca Higham

Steven continues on as our highly skilled Montessori consultant and guest speaker at parent evenings. He is a highly trained Montessori teacher for children 0-18 with international teaching experience at all levels. His qualifications include a MEd; Dip Tchng (NZ), BA, BSc, PGDipED, LTCL, LSB, ASB, ANZDA (Accred); SCA (Accred). He is qualified to teach 14 different subject topics. Steven is a teacher trainer and has been the Senior Lecturer in Montessori education at AUT and continues to be a guest speaker at Montessori establishments. Steven has founded three Montessori schools and Harbour has been his fourth.


Francis Joung

Rebecca Higham

Rebecca is another of our founding teachers and is now our valuable reliever. Rebecca was the founding principal of Meraki Montessori. She has a Bachelor of Education, specialising in Montessori teaching from AUT and a Montessori teaching diploma from Toronto Montessori Institute. She has served on the advisory committee for the Bachelor of Education at AUT. The students love her “take on anything” approach.

Jess Joung

Francis Joung

Francis has been a physiotherapist for 17 years, running his own clinic. His specialty is management of chronic pain and he lectures internationally on the topic. Francis is a trustee for Harbour Montessori.

Lucy Lee

Jess joung

Jess is a General Practitioner and partner at Torbay Medical Centre. She works to manage mental health issues across all age groups and recognises the need for schools such as Harbour Montessori College. Jess is a trustee for Harbour Montessori.

Ben Lee

Lucy Lee

Lucy is an occupational therapist working in spinal cord and brain injury. Lucy was Montessori-educated as a young child and attributes her self-directedness and contentment to that early Montessori set-up. Lucy is a trustee for Harbour Montessori.

Paul Scanlan

Ben Lee

Ben is a police officer in central Auckland. He comes from a large family of national and international educators. Ben is a trustee working with Kawai Purapura and the Ministry of Education and is our Treasurer.

Nirvana Singh

Paul Scanlan

Paul is of Ngati Raukawa descent. He is the current principal at Meraki Montessori and is AMI trained with extensive further Montessori training. Paul is part of our advisory board of governance.
